At US-Based Deaf Action Foundation, we educate, advocate, research, and empower to advance the rights, services, and equal opportunities for Deaf Black communities, immigrants, and refugees. We envision a world free of discrimination, where barriers are broken, inclusivity is embraced, and voices are amplified through American Sign Language. We strive to empower Deaf individuals to enjoy equal rights and opportunities in society, fostering a community that helps others, drives change, and embraces the world.

- Self-advocacy skills can be learned at any age.
A Deaf Child:
- They have the right to speak up for themselves
- They have the right to learn and access information.
- They have the right to find out who will support them.
- They have the right to know their rights and responsibilities.
- They have the right to learn or ask for help with problem-solving.
- They have the right to assert themselves by reaching out to others when they need help.

Our history
Before the US Based Deaf Action Foundation (USBDAF) was established in 2019, Rachel Akusake noticed that many black deaf communities including immigrants and refugees have been struggling, repression, frustrating and discrimination related to race, gender, and disability for years and it is still happening today. Most black deaf youth and single mothers do not know that education is important and how it can change their lives.
